I really enjoyed this book. Though the beginning was a bit slow and dull, the story managed to pick up. I thought it was going to be all about war but it dealt a lot with the main character's (Billy Pilgrim's) life during the war, in Illium, in Tralfamadore -- all the while travelling between these separate time periods of his life. 5/5.I really enjoyed this book. Asimov's style engages you and his characterization is excellent. Great collection of short stories that are framed nicely to make a more intriguing plot!

A recommendation for the grade 6/7/8 crowd.
A short piece that deals with problems faced by a boy suffering cerebral palsy. I think this is perfect for a short read that provides a quasi-unique view of life from a character that nobody understands (cliché, I know).
All things considered, it still is a pretty unique and fast-paced piece for the younger crowd there, in terms of YA fiction.A recommendation for the grade 6/7/8 crowd.

I think this novel received a bit too much hype but, overall it provides a picture of the hardships faced by a group of friends during the wartime. I didn't enjoy as much as I thought I would but, I wasn't disappointed in the outcome.
All in all, I strongly recommend for those liking coming-of-age, wartime shock, and friendship-focused stories (pretty specific, I know, but worth a read if that's what you like).I think this novel received a bit too much hype but, overall it provides a picture of the hardships faced by a group of friends during the wartime. DON'T PANIC!
I just finished this amazing book!
In my opinion, Adams perfectly satirizes government bureaucracy in a cleverly written, entertaining book. Of course, that is only part of the entire web he spins in Hitchhiker's - regardless, that was something I found particularly funny.
It is a really funny book. Great characters (Marvin is my favourite), great amount of sci-fi with a nice mix of comedy. This is really more of a comedic book with a cosmic backdrop, really.
Give this book a chance, it's worth a read. It's short and the content isn't overly 'challenging' for the non-sci-fi fanatic. If anything, there's a more 'human' quality to it because of how much it makes fun of us and the weird things about our society.
Finally, remember to always bring a towel with you (it's surprisingly useful despite it banal appearance) and the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42.DON'T PANIC!

In my opinion, the book is much better than the film adaptation. It gives you so much more than the movie does.
