I love this author's work. Always engages me to the very last page. I have read everything she has writen. The historical fiction and story lines are informative and woven together beautifully. Hoping she publishes again soon.

One of the more boring books I’ve read in recent memory. A ghost from the lost Ninth Roman Legion appears during an archaeological dig in Scotland, but he gets amazingly little page time. The love story between the archaeologists is as…

Canadian author Susanna Kearsley works her magic once again with this satisfying blend of mystery, romance, and paranormal elements. The setting of the Scottish countryside mixed with the village's fishing industry provides a beautiful and…

Love this book. I rarely read books twice, but after reading this one many years ago, it stuck with me and I wanted to read it again. Don't let the title mislead you ... it isn't about horses at all (other than metaphor and imagery). I…

A different kind of ghost story. I enjoyed the history and the touch of eeriness.

She sure does write a good Scotsman and I like her style but this story was a bit more surface-y than her others.

I really enjoyed this book. I picked it up after reading another book by Susanna Kearsley called The Winter Sea (I think). Not too heavy, but interesting. Love how there's a ghost in the story as well.

The writing in this book was mediocre at best and most of the characters were one-dimensional (including the narrator). Nonetheless it was interesting enough that I read the whole thing to find out what happened.

I loved this just because it was light, slightly "fantasy-esque" reading.

I listened to this as an audiobook from my library and I think that might help resolve a lot of the problems other readers have found with this book. Personally, any story read with British and (especially) Scottish accents is more…

Another wonderful book by Susanna Kearsley. A romance and ghost story that is Gothic in tone. And it comes complete with a very handsome Scot! If you enjoy books by Barbara Michaels, give this author a try.
