This movie was unbearable. The narration wasn't necessary, as a matter of fact it was obnoxious!
What do you call the beginning of a new scene showing a chapter of a book? Whoever put this together is as dysfunctional as this family.
A father who cheats out his son and wife, the wife cheats on her husband, another one who's in love with his sister, the sister can't seem to get her act straight and cheats on her husband, has a lover and is in love with her brother (I don't care if she is adopted); talk about incest. And she has relations with men and women. The older who's obsessed with drills and is a bitter man. Their friend who's a drunk and takes drugs and that Indian dude that's the right hand of the father, stabs him twice. I can't forget the black lover of the mom that snooped around to find out the Dad wasn't really sick.
All those years he was the accountant and now he tells her he's in love with her? Why, because the father wasn't in the picture?
The only sane one's were the boys and the jury's still out on them; with a family like that they're going to be as crazy as the rest.
I can't forget to mention, they were worried about smoking than the mess they had made of their lives.
Who wrote this insanity of a movie?

As much as I like Wes Anderson films, this was close to unwatchable. It was like an over extended episode of Arrested Development, which I also loathed.

This is my favorite of all the Wes Anderson movies. Each character has a sarcastic and comedic personality, as well as a vulnerable need to be accepted by their parents and eachother. I think anyone can enjoy watching this movie.

this is one of my favorite shows. I watch it at least every other month. the cast is fantastic, but the way it was filmed it is full of charm and a real feel for how this family ticks. makes me wish I was a Tenenbaum too! my personal advice is to watch it twice some people just don't get it the first time. I also own the soundtrack and it gets regular play as well.

I love this movie. It is probably in my top 10. Great cast, unique sound track, I even appreciate the narrater. Funny, however some might not understand this type of humor. If you like the movie 'Life Aquatic' you will equally enjoy this.

I wonder what this movie is about.
