Not much happens in this book but you get a real sense of who Mary is and of the setting. It's a really beautiful book, and it's obvious that Mary really cares about Dr. Jekyll. If you liked the movie, you might have a bit difficulty with this if you're expecting a lot of romantic scenes between Mary and Jekyll/Hyde. Mary is terrified around Hyde when he pops up, and there's really no chemistry between the two. The ending is truly heartbreaking.
