It's always inspiring when a rising young band's first album on a major record label (a make-or-break album if ever there was one) is this ambitious, this edgy, this determined to stake out its own territory outside of traditional pop formats ... and this catchy! Not all of this album's experiments succeed, but the fact that it was willing to make them at all set it as one of the better albums of 2006.
