(Lyrics excerpt) - The purple piper plays his tune... The choir softly sings... Three lullabies in an ancient tongue.... For the court of the Crimson King.

If you ask me, I'd say that 1969's "In The Court Of The Crimson King" has got to be one of the very few albums (from that era of emerging diversity in pop music history) which completely embodies the genre of psychedelic, acid rock like no other. This lp is a true classic.

There can be no question that "In The Court Of The Crimson King" was a very impressive debut album from King Crimson, a talented band of 5 British musicians, which featured virtuoso-guitarist, Robert Fripp, and vocalist-extraordinaire, Greg Lake.

Of the 5 long-playing tracks on this 43-minute CD, my 3 favorites are Epitaph, I Talk To The Wind, and, of course, the title track, The Court Of The Crimson King.

This album's fantastically grotesque record-jacket was designed and painted by artist, Barry Godber who, at 24, died shortly after this lp's release.

(Lyrics excerpt) - The pattern juggler lifts his hand... The orchestra begins... As slowly turns the grinding wheel... In the court of the Crimson King. (written by Peter Sinfield)
