Pretty typical underdog triumph movie. Well written and acted enough that the predictable story isn't a bother. I liked that it didn't have grating subplots up the wazoo to add "dramatic tension" because it honestly didn't need them.

THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!
I think this is for ages 10 and up, this is definitely not a horror film and would be fun to watch with family and friends. My favorite character in the film is Edie because his is a very caring person and helps Mrs. Chenery cool herself down in difficult periods. Also the song OH HAPPY DAY was played, during the song the horse, big red, was DANCING, he was nodding his head up and down. I say this is a great movie to watch when you are not brave to face your fear or when you have a huge test at school. This is based on a true story. I give it a 101 out 100 stars. I hope you enjoy watching it!
QUOTE FROM THE MOVIE:
"I've run my race. Now you run yours."
" This is not about going back. This is about life being ahead of you and you run at it!"

THESE ARE TWO OF MY FAVORITE QUOTES.

Well, I sure enjoyed it, and I was on the edge of my seat, even though I knew the outcome. This all happened in my horse crazy teenage days, I probably still have a news clipping about Secretariat, stuffed in a scrap book somewhere. I guess I'm still horse crazy, but as for riding 'em....my body says "no, no!" I will be reading the book, that this movie was based on, as I know Disney can ham it up pretty good. Was interested to note that the director wrote some of the musical tracks, and the actress who sang the last song, was also a musician. Never heard of her before, but will be checking her out on "I-Tunes." Also will keep my eye out for Randall Wallace's next film. I missed the cameo of Penny Cheney in the last scene. Thankfully, I haven't taken this back yet, so will put it back in and check it out! I'll probably watch this movie again sometime, and see if I can spot Randall Wallace in it as well. (I'll watch any movie with horses in it a second time, especially feel good ones like this one!)....and "ecifani" what on earth is so "terrible" about it?!...."BertBailey", I just think that your expectations are a bit to "high!" ....."chris24books," why wouldn't Disney make this movie?, and I think the "bossy rich woman" had a lot of guts. (Didn't sound like her father started out with much, but gave her the confidence she needed to stick with her goals and dreams.) My goodness.

Oh...this is actually terrible.

Hard to imagine how a story about a bossy rich woman ended up as a Disney movie. The part about the horse and the trainer and jockey are interesting, as are the sociological details of that rarified world of the super-rich who raise thoroughbreds.
Inheritance tax of $6,000,000 in the 1970s? Wow.....

Sentimental but very well done account of career of the great racehorse. The film glosses over some historical facts (for example, there is no mention of 1972 Derby winner Riva Ridge, also from the Chenery stables) but does an excellent job of capturing the excitement of Secretariat's Triple Crown chase.

I saw the movie and I had liked it
this is based on a true story this isnot for children to watch

This movie is amazing. In another movie Seabiscut- it's also about racing but the horse has a bad accident. It also has some stuff that shouldn't have been in it. But this movie is perfectly ok for almost everyone other that some mild language. It's soo inspring to me and it's by far my favorite movie!! I also love how it has the real owner of Secretariat in the movie at the very end.
