Before I read the book after I saw the movie, I was amazed on being interested for post-apocalyptic books, mostly focusing on post-apocalyptic societies from different books like The Hunger Games saga and the Divergent saga, but for me, The Hunger Games saga serves as a perfect example for highlighting different societies/districts based on how an unknown phenomenon created this. To me, the Hunger Games was like watching something in the future. I know that it leaves out lots of parts, but if they took it right from the book, it would make everyone think that it’s exactly like the book, with lots of details that no one would want to see, but the main points of the book in the film. I had no expectations going into this movie and I really liked it. I enjoyed the build-up and politics up tothe actual games. Woody Harrelson with his usual comic relief. Definitely entertaining. Worth seeing in the theatre for sure!! An effective entertainment, and Jennifer Lawrence is strong and convincing in the central role. But the film leapfrogs obvious questions in its path, and avoids the opportunities sci-fi provides for social criticism. Like the select participants of its savage sport, The Hunger Games stands triumphant, if scarred and a bit wobbly from the contest, which is how it’s like to some people in real life, to be honest. Therefore, this is why I like the film more than the book, due to the climax being epic like a Dawn of the Dead scene.

The book was excellent, good story. I was disappointed in the movie! Movie was rushed and felt no connection between characters. Actor for Peeta was wrong, no connection between Peeta and Katniss. Do not recommend movie if you read book.

i don't know why is everybody so worked up about this movie i don't know why everybody likes this movie i just watched it on saturday and sunday to finish it and i didn't really like it i only barrowed it cause taylor swift was singing the song in the movie called safe and sound i knew i won't like this movie but everybody in my school and evan in my class likes this movie but way don't i like this movie i don't know my littile brother in high school when he was in gr. 9 read the hungher games book but than he got born of readding it than droped out of the school book club i never been in the book club i wasn't into going to the school libarary at lunchtime or evan readding there i also barrowed the hugher game soundtrack it was ok shoundtrack kind of boring to hear only music throught most of the cd but i only barroed it cause taylor swift was singing safe and sound and eyes open and every saturday moring i see a music video of the hunger games she is singing you know safe and sound i like the music video too but not so much for the movie.

couldn't even finish this got maybe a third the way in and had to turn it off it bored me greatly!

Anyone else notice that in the movie there seemed to be 25 tributes. 23 are killed, two survive.

A wonderful cynical portrait of how the media is being used to manipulate us ! Looking back at the history of the Roman Empire, this story makes perfect sense. 'Recycle' the defeated rebel provincials, as gladiators,.. to be ritually slaughtered by each other in the Arena (aka: "Reality T.V.")! Perfectly realized production values, good acting, and an exciting engaging script !!...( P.S. - "Kev's PICkS" : If you liked The Hunger Games,..then checkout this raw and bloody Japanese romp: "Battle Royale".)

Very good movie like the part where they come out with flames on them.

In the Distant Future lies the ruins of North America. What remains of North America is called Panem, home to the Capitol and all it's 12 districts. Dating back to the Dark Days where the Rebels tried to take over, the Capitol "maintains" control over the districts by forcing their districts to choose 1 boy and 1 girl to participate in the Capitol's Annual Hunger Games. The hunger games is a televised arena death match that airs live on TV. There can only be 1 victor in the Hunger Games.
