Not funny. Not even that clever.

Do you love history? And laughing? Then you'll love Kate Beaton's spot-on comics.

Intelligent, witty, and fun! I especially liked the literary references!

This was terrible. Very rude & crude, gives Canadians a bad name. The characters mentioned would surely turn in their graves at the sight of this. It's incredibly disrespectful.

I found the dialogue juvenile, not funny.

A fun book that, unlike a lot of short-piece humour, does not cause a headache half way through from slap-happy overdose. This book uses classic material that, even in satire, just never grows old. Kate Beaton is a talented person.

Kate Beaton has created a brilliant cartoon that fuses history, literature and out and out sarcasm. Her subjects range from historical figures to reinterpreting old books based solely on their covers. (The Nancy Drew covers are particularly instpred.) As a Canadian with two history degrees I was more than excited by occasional Canadian history cartoons. So a must read.

Just really didn't find a lot of these that funny - and it's not that I didn't get them (I've read a lot of the books that are parodied in this collection and was a History major). Had some sporadic chuckles but to me it wasn't the "uproarious romp through history and literature" as advertised.

You will laugh, and laugh and then feel really smart because you get the jokes. Awesome, doodle-y drawings too. Like hilarious notes passed in class.

This book was a lot of fun. The comics are funny and the author's footnotes are laugh out loud funny. I feel like I learned something. A great take on historical figures and events. http://beatonna.tumblr.com/
