Diversity in Medicine Book Discussion: The Beauty in Breaking

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Description

Join us for a virtual NNLM Reading Club discussion of Michele Harper’s powerful memoir, The Beauty in Breaking.

After a difficult childhood, a relationship rejection, and discrimination as an African American woman in a predominately white male profession, Dr. Harper reveals how every person is broken in one way or another. Harper shares how she self-healed by incorporating the lessons she learned from her patients, and she encourages the reader to follow her journey to healing with the same insight and compassion she uses in her work as an emergency room physician.

Sponsored by the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM).
