"This is definitely a work of fiction inspired by history, but it's beautifully told!" - Raven P.

Very disappointed. I recall reading other novels from Gregory in the Tudor and Battle of Rose series but do not remember that they were filled with explicit sexual imagery or went so far off base in terms of accepted historical fact. As…

Very disappointed. I can't reccomend it. There should be a disclaimer on the dust jacket: '700 page 'Harlequin Romance'. Read it at risk of deep boredom'. 'He gathered her up into his strong arms, and climbed the narrow stairs to his…

I really enjoy this version of the history fiction, she did an amazing job filling the blanks and giving the character personality beyond of what we ever know

From the pen of an excellent writer, the central years of Henry's reign, seen through the eyes of Mary Boleyn, Anne's sister and one-time rival for the King's affection.

A story of an ambitious family and a foolish king, and the women who were in the middle. A good read.

Lushly written, with characters you can't help but want to get to know even more. You feel as if you've been drawn into the time of the Tudors, where love, sex, and politics are often combined into a frothy, heady mixture.

Did not like this book at all. There are better fiction books about Mary Boleyn than this one. There were inconsistencies in the story telling and too many "modern"feminist observations/thoughts made by women who likely didn't give that…

The book is fun and you learn a ton about British monarchy - but the movie is horrible - destroys the story.

This novel is an interesting retelling of the love story between Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. Instead of being told in the perspective of either Anne or Henry, Philippa Gregory decides to tell the story through the eyes of Anne’s…

Really enjoyable. I know it's probably nowhere near accurate, but that's why they call it historical FICTION. Couldn't put it down. Please do not waste your time with the movie. I can understand cutting some parts out (it is a long…

What a marvellous book! Probably historically inaccurate but that made for a more interesting story. The cover I bought reflected the recent movie (which I plan to watch on DVD when it comes out). Mary, the "other Boleyn girl" was played…

Gregory gives a fresh, scintillating account of the lives of Henry VIII and the Boleyn sisters. She maintains the integrity of the history behind the story, while bringing life and depth to the story. Excellent.

Historical fiction in a very enjoyable way. Learned a lot, enjoyed the drama and intrigue. Worth a read! Combine this with the movie (which strays a little), the Tudors series on TV, it all combines to make you really wonder how things…
