I chose to watch "Bottle Rocket" because I have enjoyed several of Wes Anderson's films and wanted to see his earliest films. It has all the characteristics of an independent film in which stories and relationships develop artistically.…

Wes Anderson films are often described as quirky. Possibly because what the film appears to be about is seldom the true nature of the tale on view. In this case, after several days of thinking back over the events in the film, it…

I love Wes Anderson films and understand that this was his first feature release. The Wilson brothers were fun to watch play off each other. The plot was thin and uninteresting....rambling even. I had no interest in seeing the conclusion…

You can see the seeds of Wes Anderson's amazing oeuvre here and it's really fun.

This is the film that introduced the world not only to the Wilson brothers but also the enigmatic mind belonging to none other than Wes Anderson, in all their glory and shame. (:

Great to see where Wes started. The seeds of a great director are present. Check out the original short film.

Why not turn to the ridiculous antics of what must be the least capable criminals ever conceived? If there’s a way to NOT pull a heist, they will do it and invent three more equally stupid ways in the process. Recommended.

A rambling, oddball shaggy dog story, but it packs some real emotion and laughs along the way. Terrific understated performances, and good use of images and music. I recently watched it a 2nd time and thought I wasn't all that into…

This movie is not only NOT funny, it's downright annoying. Scene after scene, noting makes a lick of sense. Even STUPID people don't act like THAT. Acting stupid CAN be played for laughs, but this plot is SO stupid, SO pointless, and SO…

A great film for those on board with the pacing of Wes's dialogue but get a little fed up with his hipster twee aesthetic. Being an earlier work of his, he had a good direction going with the comedic tone and the plot beats, but had not…

Definitely one of a kind, and it could only be an American story. It's been weeks since I saw it, and I still burst out laughing when I remember the adventures of these guys.

This film holds a special place in my heart since it is the movie that launched the career of my favorite director. Bottle Rocket began as a 13-minute short film (which you can watch on disc 2 of the Criterion Collection edition), shown at…

This is the original Wes Anderson film and the first roles for the Wilson brothers, too. So, just from a film history point of view, it's worth seeing, but it is also really a good movie, with a really nice love story sandwiched into the…

Wes Anderson's first film. This quietly daffy comedy should have been an indie hit, but ended up ignored by audiences. Too bad; it's a wonderfully sustained caper movie about friends whose career choice is all wrong.

Bottle Rocket is Wes Anderson's first feature-length movie as well as the feature film debuts of Luke and Owen Wilson. Owen also co-wrote the movie. Three friends who are inexperienced at crime attempt to pull off some heists. While it…

Experimental (the content may turn many people away) and super low budget (to reproduce thoughtful reality), but rivals major hollywood flicks. Watching with a thinking mind to capture the nuances is a delight. More than humor or caper.…

Wes Anderson must have been too high too see how unfunny, dismal & shallow this movie was. Usually Wes Anderson does quality work but this movie just flat out sucks.

Owen Wilson is the most delightful factor of this film. Audiences would soon see him as the laid back, aloof charmer in other films, but here he is manically detail-oriented, insisting that his crack team of bookstore thieves wear…

Don't miss this movie - it is director Wes Anderson's first, and features the Wilson brothers before they got famous!

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

This is Wes Anderson's debut film and, to me, it certainly felt like a low-budget debut film. The story is simple (one friend wants to lead a life of crime, his friend isn't too sure) and the plot is pretty thin. However, you can see all…

I enjoyed this alot more years ago when I first watched it. Upon revisiting it, I still enjoyed quite a bit of the dialogue (especially the banter between the Wilson brothers). I enjoyed the quirky story, but not as much as I had before.…

If you're a Wes Anderson fan - and I'm not - you'll absolutely rave over this one... because it 'ain't' bad as far as Wes Anderson flicks go... possibly rivalling "Rushmore"... the only other Wes Anderson flick that I came close to…
