Amazing film that will transport you to another planet literally and emotionally. Do not miss watching it! The artwork is sublime and the themes of struggle for survival and love loom large in this once in a lifetime experience. Right up…

This animated science fiction film shows the struggle of human beings on a distant planet where giant blue native inhabitants treat humans as playthings. The humans stand up against conformity and violence.. Entertaining with wondrous…

The animation and story are timeless. The depiction of society whether alien or human was masterfully crafted and could be relatable to the world in which we live, today. I, also, thought the landscape depicted resembled the brain and its…

Possibly of historic interest but mostly period slow and disturbing. The end is not credible, could it have been an alternate to an original darker ending?

This one is not for the faint of heart. Certainly cutting edge and courageous storytelling. Hard to say much about the story other than it is an experience.

On my to-watch list for a few weeks. The animation is absolutely depressing. It can play like a childhood nightmare or a psychedelic vision. The story, however, is the perfect allegory for intelligent lifeform. There will always be an…

☄️ I'll have to go along with VonH's review below, which ought to be good, because he got it from Rotten Tomatoes at https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/fantastic_planet/reviews.

Originally released back in 1973 - "Fantastic Planet" is actually quite an interesting and impressively animated feature-length film from (of all places) Czechoslovakia. Set far off on a distant world called Ygam - "Fantastic Planet's"…

There is a strange, dreamlike placidity that hangs – like a silent, terrifying fog – over René Laloux’s 1973 animated sci-fi classic Fantastic Planet. It’s an eerie film, gently overflowing with imagination and full-blown, psychedelic,…

I really like this movie, it's crafted intuitively beautiful from the plot to the characters and scenery, this would only make true sense to someone with a high consciousness. If you are sensitive to your children seeing breasts this is…

Fine family entertainment, if you are a family of European intellectuals, or mutants. There may be a slight bias to that statement, as this is the film that scarred young Janice21383 for life.

Winner of a special jury award at Cannes, René Laloux’s hippy trippy animated adaptation of Stefan Wul’s novel—itself a thinly disguised critique on the plight of the Czech people under Soviet occupation—certainly captures the essence of…

Where do I start. The story line was very interesting and that's what kept me hooked but the art work was creepy! Towards the end I was expecting a climatic moment of resolution but I was left very disappointed. …

In my opinion, this animated, Sci-Fi, Fantasy tale from 1973 was clearly "less-than-fantastic" on all counts. From its cut-out, paper-doll animation; to its ugly and nonsensical story of survival and revenge; to its "far-from-likable"…

Probably one of the best movies ever made. Amazing animation, you'll never see anything quite in this style. Very fluid, amazing shading. The film is beautiful to look at and the soundtrack is great!
