BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES. This was the first book in the series that I read, and I'm glad that I did. This book was rich in adjectives and descriptions, especially the food. YUM. The only sad part was that Rose dies in the end. Five star, great book for ages ten and up.

Another satisfying entry in the Redwall series, this is chronologically the first book in which we meet Martin the Warrior, and we hear the tale of his fight for freedom from the evil tyrant Badrang, long before the founding of Redwall Abbey. As always, be ready for an epic journey with colorful characters who never lose hope in the face of peril, and Jacques's ever-gorgeous descriptions of food!

This was a super good book. It is probably my all-time favorite Redwall book. I absolutely LOVE Martin, and I was sad when Rose died. But I think the ending was really satisfying; it arouses emotion in the reader.

Im not a big fan at all by animal books. I hate them!

SPOILER ALERT. First of all, these books are not for children. There is blood, gore, and decapitation throughout all of Brian Jacque's books. Children cannot even grasp such concepts and should not be reading these books. Now, on to a more pressing matter. This is one of my favorite books in the Redwall series, mostly because of the fact that the young Martin the Warrior is one of the best characters in all the series, not to mention how he develops as a character. I was also thoroughly depressed by Rose's death. However, like always, the ending was satisfying.
