Barbara Michaels (also known as Elizabeth Peters) wrote excellent romantic suspense novels, and this one is no exception. A clumsy, attractive, intelligent heroine with a chip on her shoulder plunges through a tangled garden maze and onto the lawn of handsome millionaire whose nose is rather out of joint at having his breakfast interrupted. Complications ensue involving centuries-old witch stories and supernatural presences, as well as plain, old evil. A good beach or cabin read.

This is a nice cozy mystery written by our dearly departed Elizabeth Peters, aka Barbara Mertz, aka Barbara Michaels. It's about an American girl who has suffered the loss of her father and travels to the English countryside to seek out lost great gardens, an interest she shared with her father. There is particular emphasis on garden mazes and Wiccans.

This is the 2nd book I've read by this author. She seems to have trouble getting to the point, leaves loose ends and then may add something right at the end for which there is little to no foundation. It was a slow read for these reasons.
