Critical mass is another heartracing suspense novel by New York Times bestselling author Steve Martini, who intricately composes a mind shattering plot of a world unknowingly on the brink of nuclear terror. Jocelyn "Joss" Cole, a burned-out public defender from L.A., opted for a quieter life in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. Then Dena Belden enters her office seeking a lawyer to aid in the establishment of his business on the islands. Within days Belden is subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury, and less than an hour after testifying he dies in a fiery explosion.

I failed to buy into the plot as it stretched the limits of credibility to the max. There were some good parts but overall, it felt more like an amateur writer's attempt
