A fun, quick mystery for kids.

Meh. The story felt really contrived - Oh no! not another coincidental happening that is meant to add suspense but really just got tiresome! Also, I just never really warmed up to the protagonist Sammy Keyes.

The book was just OK, and I have no interest in reading others in the series.

Sammy Keyes is a girl who is a magnet for mischief. Her wit and amateur detective skills make this book a fun and fresh read where you find yourself rooting for the protagonist at every turn.

You might not always agree with Sammy's tactics, but after reading this book, you will admit that it is a humorous, fast-paced read.

I liked this initial book -- MUCH more than the Nancy Drew books I sampled -- and will read more.

At Amazon, there's a review by Jon Williams that I found helpful.

An excellent first in the series title about Sammy Keyes, girl detective. A very savvy young lady who handles situations very well! I lol'ed at the way she got her revenge on her arch enemy at school!
