Sarah Nolan is divorced, demoralized and dateless - until her sister posts her profile on perfectmatch.com. Now she has a lot of dates, mainly with weirdos, weepers, lechers and jocks. Then she meets Jake, a soulful boat builder whose idea of true love comes straight from the movies. Jake is attractive, smart and maybe a bit too intense for Sarah, so she passes him by. But in passing him up, she may be passing up a real chance for love.

This movie is about a forty year old woman named Sarah who’s sister creates her a dating profile hoping that she will get back out there into the dating world. At the same time, a man named Jake does the same thing and the two cross paths. They don’t want anything serious, but they are so obviously falling for one another. I found this movie to be the same as those movies where the two friends want to stay friends but are totally in love, except this time the two at least admitted that they were dating. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars and recommend it to those who just want any excuse to watch a John Cusack movie. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

A lot of romantic comedies fall flat on their face when it comes to the actual humor, but this film shells out a bunch of laugh-out-loud moments time and time again. Talented actress Diane Lane is perfectly cast as the protagonist, a freshly divorced teacher who feels rightly overwhelmed by the painful and contradictory world of dating. She's got great chemistry with co-star John Cusack. This is exactly the sort of movie that's funny enough in a light-hearted way for even those that disparage so-called 'chick flicks' to enjoy.

Witty, poetic, sophisticated, a perfect romantic comedy for me.

An OK Romcom if you can suspend your disbelief that Diane Lane
has trouble getting dates.

I love Diane Lane and I like most of John Cusack's films too, but this was a disaster. She's a preschool teacher in her late forties whose husband cheated and then dumped her. He's super picky and verbally abusive. They had zero chemistry. He shows up for their blind date and insults her looks. So of course she isn't going to go out with him. But she does something worse--she jumps into bed with the father of one of her students. And he's a serial cheater. It was really awful. Sadly, the first 90 mins of this film is a pretty accurate picture of the abysmal dating world. Which made the happy ending completely unbelievable.

A waste of talent as far as the cast the script was inane , forced and juvenile. The Director should give their money back.

The "will-they-or-won't-they" scenarios are teased out to an almost maddening degree, but it's sweet and funny.
