Ms. Van Draanen covered herself against liability by having Mom push the send button. (Hey kids, don't try this at home without adult supervision.) Not a bad thing. But the series took a turn for the worse with the introduction of a talking lizard. This may have been another gimmick to distance Van Drannen from potential suits should kids decide to copy-cat Shredderman. Patently, a book with a gabby gecko cannot represent any form of reality. Therefore, nothing in the book can be misconstrued as role-model material. I could have lived without the second disclaimer.
