Although I knew this story took place in 1851, I was surprised that Pel was 4 years older than Gray. Today this is insignificant, however it was unheard of in the 1800's. The paramours of both Pel and Gray are disturbing in that it was so unacceptable in the ton once they were married without the required heir and a spare. The ending was satisfactory even though the story was unbelievable in the 1800s.

This was a good story with many sub plots that don't take over the main story. I just wished it would have included the era -1800's- in the description.
