This book was way, way too long (over 600 pages). It's like it never got edited. Spike Lee filmed it in 1995 and Price co-wrote the screenplay. If it was released today, a white writer doing black characters and slang might be found problematic.

The basis of so much 'urban' literature. A great study of two men, though it has flaws (characters that just drop out and never return). I wanted to keep reading about these people's lives long after the book finished.
