Not much happens in this book but you get a real sense of who Mary is and of the setting. It's a really beautiful book, and it's obvious that Mary really cares about Dr. Jekyll. If you liked the movie, you might have a bit difficulty with this if you're expecting a lot of romantic scenes between Mary and Jekyll/Hyde. Mary is terrified around Hyde when he pops up, and there's really no chemistry between the two. The ending is truly heartbreaking.

An interesting look at what life must have been like for servants in 19th century London.
