Gillian Gill offers a revolutionary portrait of a queen and her prince, revealing at once both an intimate but far-from-idyllic relationship that succeeded against all odds as the strong, feisty queen and the brilliant, fragile prince worked together to build a family based on support, trust, and fidelity.

Victoria inherited the throne as a teenager and not many people believed that she would succeed. Albert had been raised with the sole purpose to marry Victoria and help rule. While it was not love at first sight, love happened the second time around. Both Victoria and Albert could be stubborn and headstrong and while this tested their marriage they created a family filled with love, something both missed having as children. Victoria and Albert had a very normal marriage, loving yet sometimes complicated, even though they lived a very public life.
