We all know Harry Houdini as the greatest escape artist ever, but he didn't start out that way. This children's biography hits all the important points, showing us key events in his life, as well as introducing us to the type of person he was. From a young age, Ehrich took up performing as a job, and showed interest in magic. Once his career took off, he impressed ever larger audiences with his daredevil's courage, creating ever more impressive scenario's, also wherever he went he would request that police confine him, but they never could create a lock that could hold him. This larger than life figure had more human qualities though for he had a bad habit of not taking care of himself. Each of these beautifully painted illustrations is a snapshot of Houdini's life and the performances he did. It is impossible to capture the tension of his escape acts, but the artist does have a flair for dramatic shots. Additional sources are listed in the back.
