The Unhealthy Truth is both the story of how one brave woman chose to take on the system and a call to action that shows how each of us can do our part and keep our own families safe. O'Brien turns to accredited research conducted in Europe that confirms the toxicity of America's food supply, and traces the relationship between Big Food and Big Money that has ensured that the United States is one of the only developed countries in the world to allow hidden toxins in our food-toxins that can be blamed for the alarming recent increases in allergies, ADHD, cancer, and asthma among our children. Featuring recipes and an action plan for weaning your family off dangerous chemicals one step at a time The Unhealthy Truth is a must-read for every parent-and for every concerned citizen-in America today.--From publisher.

I picked up this book because I saw a YouTube clip of the author. Before picking up this book I made a comment to my husband that our daughter seems to lose her mind always after eating a certain kind of cracker. I thought she had an allergy, to what I don't know. Funny enough, this book talks about this particular cracker and the artificial food colouring in it. This author claims artificial food colouring makes kids lose their minds. Huh. That makes sense to me. Good to know.
Lots of interesting facts in this book. A LOT of scary facts in this book. Also a lot of hard to prove stuff happening in this book. Its starting to hit home with me though so I'd say it's worth a read.

Definitely an eye-opener. The funny thing is I use to think organic-smorganic. I thought buying organic food and eating healthy was a fad. I never ate unhealthy but I definitely wasnt as aware as I am now. But now I know WHY people choose to eat healthier or organic food.. It is so important because it is pretty clear we cant rely on the government to prevent these things from happening. P.S. anyone looking into more on this topic WATCH GENETIC ROULETTE. Seriously, eye-opening.

While I did not enjoy Robyn O'Brien's writing style, she had good solid facts and taught me a lot about food that I hadn't known. As somebody who is constantly researching food, nutrition and health in general that was important. I find a lot of books out there have been done and done again. As a stay at home mother, she does well and is very commited to the cause. I'm thankful for finding such an important book and the information that she shared.

she needed a science editor; some very valid concerns and points but also many inaccuracies. eg e. coli listed as a virus!.....and speaks of antibiotic resistance as something bad that humans can get (as opposed to catching nasty bugs with same...)

Truly eye-opening. A must read for anyone interested in eating healthier. It's scary what is happening to our food supply...

written for mothers of young children, and it is a worthwhile education, corporate America should be ashamed, money before people is their motto
