Ancient and Medieval Siege Weapons

Ancient and Medieval Siege Weapons

A Fully Illustrated Guide to Siege Weapons and Tactics

There is something alluring about ancient methods of warfare that have been made obsolete by this modern era of computers and machines. Before the days of tanks and machine guns, there were scaling ladders, battering rams, siege towers, throwing machines and bores. Weapons such as these symbolize power, protection, control, and defiance. Ancient and Medieval Siege Weapons allows readers to actually re-create their own medieval weapons with clear, step-by-step instructions.

This book is very good for people looking to research the history of siege weapons. The book is full of illustrations which is good because the author does not go into much detail to describe the siege equipment. Likewise, the author focuses on when the siege equipment was introduced, the battles these pieces of equipment were used in and who is responsible for its invention. I was a little disappointed to see that there were not step-by-step instructions to build any of the siege equipment because I was kind of hoping it would tell me how to build a trebuchet or something in my yard.
