i believe the ending is quite confusing when you haven't read the last book of the series. after all, you would have thought the author was crazy! you wouldn't even discover there were another 8 eights until the last book. plus, i think that it's the author's intention to make the kids think calling their principal by their whole name and insisting that he or she was evil. the book itself was pretty good, though.
