First half diplomatic mission gone sideways.
Second half gunboats go against six 'rouge' dreadnoughts

Somewhat disappointing.
Chop off at least one third of the pages and this would make a good short novel. However, the author chose to stretch the book's length by stuffing in much useless trivia.

Hope in the darkest of days. The ability to step up to the plate. Strenght to keep on going. Asks "what are you willing to do (and to give up) to protect your family, your country, your world?" Sometimes, going outside the lines protects the whole. I really loved it.

Kris sighed. Grampa Ray was right. She could eat her heart in small bites every day, or she could put her heart into living every day that came her way. She could decide later...or she could make the call now and save herself a lot of wasted motion. Lose it now or suck it up. Let [...] all their deaths become a black hole that ripped her apart. Or find the strength she needed. [..] You weren't a Longknife just because you did what had to bed done on the day it was demanded of you. No, Longknifes did what had to be done the next day and the next. They kept putting one foot in front of the other day after day, for themselves, and for those they led...until habit turned to purpose.
