Read about halfway, but too dull to finish. :-(
Good sci-fi mystery. It was an entertaining fast read for me. Good opening, lots of plot development and an action packed ending. This is the second book in the series. The first book in the series is really slow. I would recommend starting with this one instead.
Polaris --- by Jack McvDevitt. I’d read two other of Jack’ Sci Fi novels so I had a fair idea of what to expect: I had liked the first two enough to read another. This novel opens excitingly enough with lots of suspense and lots of things going on. But once over that, there’s dialogue. Lots of it. Enough to drown you. When will there be some action, some events, something going on? Well, after what seems like an endless amount of treading water, we get to the conclusion. A few pages of stuff happening and then an understated conclusion. Three hundred and eighty pages to get to this? A little disappointing. All this book, all this prose, all this reading anticlimactic --- for what? Not one of Jack’s best works but then, on the olther hand, this represents one of his earlier attempts at novel righting. Maybe we should cut him some slack.
not to my taste
