"After amassing piles of books, Luis, a voracious reader, dreams up a way to share his collection with 'faraway villages.' He starts with two burros--one for himself, one for books--and heads off. Tough terrain and menacing bandits challenge him along the way, but at last he reaches a remote town, where he holds a story hour and loans titles to eager kids before returning home to his wife and reading late into the night."

Beautiful book- gorgeous illustrations, well told, and a true story about a real man who loves to read and share his books!

Based on a true story from the hills of Columbia, our family of emergent readers loved this tale. The poor main character is beset with an issue common to our household – too many books! What follows is a fun adventure, with engaging illustrations.

I love this book -- the pictures are great and the true story is wonderful and it teaches an important lesson without being didactic. Warms my heart. Everyone should read it, especially anyone in Library Service or starting School.
