I love the childhood-friends-to-lovers trope (or, as I like to call it in my head, the “Whoa, you grew up hot” trope), and this is an excellent execution of it. Olivia and Lisle played a major role in an earlier book in this series (Lord Perfect) when they were children, and it’s so, so nice to get to spend time with them as adults – when they discover that, not only to they still find each other infuriating, they find each other totally dreamy, too. Like all of Chase’s books, it’s chock-full of humor and wit, and as a bonus includes a maybe-haunted Scottish castle. Truly, what more do you need?
