This was an expected delight. The challenges of a mixed gay marriage - Asian and Caucasian. The challenges of fooling the Asian parents, has entertaining and sad moments. It has a great ending. Well worth a watch.

Ang Lee is such an eclectic director. This early film of his is funny and sweet with endearing characters. For me, it evokes screwball comedies of the 1930s.

Directed and written by Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Life of Pi ...), this is a fun film. It's in English and Mandarin with subtitles available in English, Spanish and French. Unfortunately the DVD does not have Chinese subtitles. I first saw this about twenty years ago and now I want to watch Eat Drink Man Woman again. There is a feature with Ang Lee on the Wedding Banquet DVD where he talks about how he came to write these movies.
