I enjoyed the series when I saw it in the 60's and again on this collection. the stories are well done and powerful. sometimes the stories had a message; sometimes they just had fun but they were all well acted. the music was memorable too. the characters are well-defined. the series had women and minorities in roles other than just supporting or minor roles.

To the last comment before mine, you are so wrong, will shatner and leonard nimoy and their buddys blow tng away, please, you are obviously a child who knows nothing about acting, go take some classes and then come back and write a real review or comment. No hard feelings kiddo, but I think you wrong.

This was almost the final season. The show didn't do terrifically in the ratings & NBC was going to cancel it, but a huge letter-writing campaign from ardent fans saved it for one more season. For those who don't know, there was even a Saturday morning cartoon version in the '70s, complete with the voices of most of the original cast & involvement with some of the writers/producers, including D.C. Fontana.

A TV series that was way-ahead of its time. The special effects were top-of-the-line for the mid-1960's. Altough the special effects are dated, this is still the best, "Trek".

Another great season! Same excellent casting; more interesting and entertaining plotlines, especially the Trouble with Tribbles episode. It's hard to believe this show is almost 45 years old. It's a real credit to the vision and creativity of Gene Roddenberry. The 21st century touch-ups were very well done and didn't detract from the series at all. Highly enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to watching season three!

To one who grew up with The Next Generation (TNG), the original Star Trek is quite a disappointment. Episode after episode features a teenage boy's wet dream of a female who tries to seduce the captain, doesn't develop plot ideas beyond a trivial level, and relies on mysterious equipment failures to keep the show dragging on until moments before the end. TNG is better produced, has more and better actors, and its plots have far more depth and variety.
