Not great but ok. Russel Crowe is too old to play Robin Hood but is still a good actor usually. A bit stiff and dour this movie was. A long dirge when it should be a rip roaring adventure.

Robin Hood? The only robbing that went on was the 156 minutes I wasted having the life sucked out me until the conclusion of this stink bomb. No, that's not accurate: there was some theft, including, but not limited to, the misappropriation of history. If it's medieval battle scenes that you crave, then this one might be for you- although there are more honest titles out there for you to satisfy your "needs." Ahh, life before antibiotics...or hygiene.

Subtitles were a good size, white & on my tv showed up against the bottom black strip so really stood out

This is the only Robin Hood movie I have seen so can't compare it to past movies. Nor do I know a lot about the true story so can't comment on its likeness to the truth. Despite this I enjoyed the movie somewhat. Had a lot of fight scenes , which aren't really my thing. The acting was realistic, despite other aspects not being so (large explosions, weapons, how clean everyone looked.
Overall it was okay.

Rather than yet another rehash of the usual plot, this film comes up with a refreshingly original version of how Robin Hood came to be an outlaw. The final battle runs on too long for my taste, but other than that, I found this film to be thoroughly enjoyable.

I thought this movie was OK. It’s no gladiator but overall it’s watchable until the ending battle which I thought was very boring. For the most part enjoyable.

When I first watched it I was disappointed, mostly because this isn't at all like the book, and Russell Crowe is too old to be robin hood( he did do a great job though). After watching the movie a couple of times I now like the movie but I don't think of it as the story of robin hood, I think of it as the story of a guy named Robin Longstride, because thinking of it as the story of robin hood frustrates me.

This version of the story ties Robin Hood to King John, the death of Richard the Lion-hearted by long-bow arrow while on seige in France, the rebellion of the barons against King John, the signing of the Magna Carta, and its renunciation. This makes it more historically based than any other Robin Hood film, although Robin Hood may or may not have had any basis in history. The story is messy, as is history, so there were a few dust-ups in attempting to figure out how to tell this story. Costumes are great. Much is placed on the honesty and goodness of Robin, but not much on why he is a legendary leader of men and an expert archer - points which are merely accepted in the movie. While Crowe was criticized for his varying English accent, there is much effort to have the actors use language in a historically appropriate manner, rather than modernize it to 21st century idiom.

Loses marks for being slow and heavy-handed in places, but I like the respect for historical realism. Ok, I'm not a historian, so I don't know how accurate it really is, but it's miles better than Kevin Costner with an American accent and a mullet. People are poor, scruffy and dirty, and there's a lot of neat detail and historical figures, like Eleanor of Aquitaine. And I like the notion of exploring how Robin Hood might have come to be (though I didn't catch on till the end that that's what this was all about - I kept thinking, wow, this movie is going to be really long, he's not even an outlaw yet).
