Over three bloody days of battle, the fate of the North will be decided. But with both sides riddled by intrigues, follies, feuds and petty jealousies, it is unlikely to be the noblest hearts, or even the strongest arms that prevail. Three men. One battle. No heroes.

Now that the version of this is available with Steven Pacey narrating, this version is a far second place. Pacey was born to narrate Abercrombies books. I had only listened to one audio book in my life, Angela's ashes. Then my brother in law introduced me to the blade itself and I was spoiled that day. The only fantasy that is close to being this good is sapkowski's wit her series. The stories are amazing as well as the characters, there names, the dialogue, story twists, back stories, just enough for each character. It's truly great, and the job Pacey does brings it to another level of entertainment. It makes me think of way back, before this last century. When stories were told by grandmother or grandfather or great uncle or aunt or another youngster for that matter, but told well ! This man has such an amazing ability with voices it makes me want to check out all he has done. Frank McCourt did very well with his book, but Pacey is an all star ! And I'm aware that the narrator who I am passing over is good, I think he narrated the Lies of Locke Lamoura, and if he did, he did it spectacularly! It's just that it's like Pacey was born for these books ! Thank you Mr Pacey and Mr Abercrombie.
