Good book about England's position in the Civil War. Many interesting characters who become intertwined in the conflict through relationships as well as moral convictions. A doctor whose family is Confederate leaning becomes involved not to support the south, but to show mercy to the men who are seriously wounded in battle. This book won an award for historical fiction. Very interesting vantage point of the war, England still was harboring grudges against the country that wasn't supposed to be.
