Mad Men is the best drama series on TV and this is a time when there are many excellent ones. The complexity of the story lines, the character development of the characters and the right on business scenes. Season 4 had an episode about luggage but really about life that was the best of tv/
Characters marry beneath themselves, Joan, Don tries to find who he is and the firm faces collapse.
Start at season one and enjoy. I watched season 5 , 3 times to figure out why it was so good.
Everyone has their reasons

The series does improve in the fourth season with some interesting and unexpected twists and turns. Unfortunately, it fell into the same trap that so many other drama series do; that not one character ever has a single moment of true happiness without some contradicting or ominous subtext making the show feel rather dreary after a while. Even the lighting seems to be getting increasingly somber and dim. Deadwood is another example where there is not a single moment of happiness in the entire series making it an incredible downer to watch.

Less engaging than previous seasons as the main man got into multiple women trouble including that of his daughter. Final episode was put together as if it was scenes in the middle of another season. Darn!

I love the mid century modern decor and clothes which they portray impeccably. If the attitudes towards minorities and women seem shocking remember the script writers have toned down the attitudes of the day so as not to totally offend absolutely everyone. It was a different time.

Season four of Mad Men finds Don Draper and the new firm in dire straights. Strapped for accounts and revenue the firm does its best to find new clients and service the ones they have. Emotionally a mess Don goes through some life altering situations. Don and Betty have divorced and they share custody of the two oldest children. During a trip to CA Don discovers some tragic news. Betty has remarried and remains as emotionally cold as ever. All of the partners and employees must adjust to the firms's financial situation as well as deal with their own personal problems. Mad Men is excellent drama, intrigue and humor set in the advertising world of the1960s.

I wish this season covered more of Betty and Henry. Also, I miss Sal's Character! Matthew Weiner needs to bring him back. He was hilarious. Overall, I enjoyed this season.
