From his childhood obsession with science fiction, his enduring friendship with Nick Frost, and his forays into stand-up comedy which began with his regular Monday morning slot in front of his twelve-year-old classmates, actor/comedian/writer/self-proclaimed supergeek Simon Pegg has always had a dangerous case of the funnies. Having landed on the U.S. movie scene in the surprise cult hit Shaun of the Dead, his rise to movie star status has been mercurial and meteoric. Whether recounting his experience working as a lifeguard at the city pool, going to Comic-Con for the first time and confessing to Carrie Fisher that he used to kiss her picture every night before he went to sleep, or meeting and working with heroes that include Peter Jackson, Kevin Smith, and Quentin Tarantino, Pegg offers a hilarious look at the journey to becoming an international superstar, dotted with a cast of memorable characters, and you're rooting for him all the way.--From publisher description.

I'm just finishing this now, and I've got to say, I like it but....I could have done without the sci-fi inserts he added in since he LOVES Star Wars and Star Trek. it would have made for better smoother reading, and if I could start over I would have just skipped those parts, since I HATE sci-fi, but dig him.
other than that, a nice read, I must say.

One part memoir, one part fictional spy thriller/comedy. Simon Pegg did not want to write a memoir but his publisher forced him to, so he decided to make every other chapter a funny fictional spy adventure. Definitely a lot of fun.

A nice light and at times funny auto bio Recommend this book for those who enjoy Pegg's humor.

I am afraid to say that I felt mostly bored throughout the entire reading of this book, so much so, than even after being about 75% through it, I just couldn't take it any longer. I guess I had been expecting more information on what it was like shooting my favorite Cornetto classics, mixed with a bit of summed up personal life information. Simon Pegg, I'm glad that you have a strong philosophical view on a Star Wars, but I just didn't care for it. Maybe down the road I'll give it a read again.

I recommend this if you are a Pegg fan. There is a lot of insight into many artistic and personal influences that led him to his status of funny nerd man that he is today. I really liked the chapters on Star Wars which were a huge influence to him as they were to me. I liked Pegg a lot before reading this and now feel I know him better (not stalkishly) and we should totally hang out because we would be great friends. I bet he's never heard that before. I heart Simon Pegg (not in that creepy way).
