I appreciate that this dramatization observed the book more closely than the others. However, the overall ambience of this movie is languid and lackluster.

I liked it. I think Cusack and Jayston were quite close to how I imagined them, and I liked the fact that they stayed true to the book.

Close to Miss Bronte's intention; at least Sorcha Cusack and Michael Jayston are closer to their characters than Mia W. and Michael F. Heavy on the Bronte, and a tad low budget. To repeat my classic-literature-to-video formula: if you liked the book, you will like this version. If you didn't read the book, or didn't like it, you won't.

This version comes in second (after the Timothy Dalton version) as my favourite Jane Eyre adaptation, quite faithful to the book but it might look a bit dated.

Quite a boring version of Jane Eyre, very slow, couldn't get through the first 10 minutes
