Edward the King

Edward the King

Though he waited nearly 60 years to become king, and reigned for only nine, Edward VII changed the British monarchy forever. Derided by his mother, Queen Victoria, as frivolous and untrustworthy, Edward was in fact a skillful, determined diplomat who longed to be useful to his country. This miniseries dramatizes his life from frustrated prince and inveterate philanderer to loving father and respected statesman.

Good adaption of underrated king after reading the 1970s book it was based on despite BBC's limited budget & GB runaway inflation back then.

This has to be the worst adaptation of this story that I've ever attempted to watch! The characters are portrayed by actors/actresses that I'm assuming we are lead to believe are in their twenties or thirties? To pretend not to see them as they actually are would be a farce to say the least, that we are suppose to believe that Victoria is a very young woman and pregnant with her second child is more than laughable, it's insane! I attempted to watch this series but after about fifteen minutes I couldn't take any more, it's just too comical! OMG! LOL!!! No star rating here. The best adaptation to this story is with Emily Blunt as the young Victoria and Rupert Friend(?) as Prince Albert. The characterizations were real and believable and there wasn't a lot of Victoria being a pain in the neck with her childish hysterics, that kills any play or drama with me!

One of my all time favourite series. It shows the human side of the British monarchy.
