This is a fantastic book, published in 2012, before ISIS or the Islamic State or Daesh [since the Obama Administration, as confused and bewildered as it was by everything else, was never sure how to name it] easily rolled into large chunks of Iraq and Syria.
Had you read this book back then, you might have predicted such, along with Syria and Yemen becoming chaotic hells, that CIA station in Afghanistan being blown to smithereens [due to typical CIA incompetence, I'm sorry to say] and wonder when Gen. Michael Flynn would finally be appointed national security advisor - - oh, look! He just was!
The author really does Real Journalism, and thoroughly! [And you will thank whatever gods you do or do not pray to that Gen. Flynn is in play - - given ALL the intel debacles over the past decade and the need for a grown-up and real professional in a position of the national security establishment, which is in a complete shambles and as hokey as can be!]
