This is my first book by CC and I must say that I agree with others when they say that CC knows how to keep you reading. Because if it wasn't for the mystery in this book, this book would have been a complete failure. The suspense was the only thing that kept me hanging on for dear life, everything else was from the dialouge, the setting and the characters lacked depth.. and then there was that ROMANCE..made me want to retch, it was unforgettably trite, overly sappy, and unconvincing. I cried out for Mercy from the torture of reading at many points during this book and was only encouraged to read on to find out 'what happened' but Oh the agony I endured!! But because i was persuaded to read it to the end, i gave it this rating. I must say I done knew who the villian was from early in the book. I guess that knowledge comes with experience...i'll take a bow now :)

I absolutely loved the book! It was thrilling at the end and I couldn't stop reading. Colleen Coble knows how to take the attention of the readers from the first page..

Colleen Coble is an excellent story telling. She keeps your interest throughout the entire story. It is best to read this story first before the other novels in the Mercy Falls series. Enjoy

Great book! The suspense started on page 3 and didnt let up until the very end. I never saw any of it coming! Highly recommend!

Absolutely Amazing!!! Never guessed who the villain was until one chapter before!(for me that's really good because I'm good at guessing) The whole entire book is filled with romance, secrets, and complicated characters! It's hard to find a mystery/romance book that starts off at a fast pace.... this is it! Wonderful for anyone who is in for a ride!

This is light reading, takes a little while to get into the story which makes it a little different than the first 2 but enjoyed the outcome tramendously

The twist towards the end of the story places this book well above average. Good job!
