Well written but a bit raunchy for my taste. Didn't know it was "rated R"... made the mistake of listening to this audiobook with my son in the car and it wasn't the greatest.

Unexpectedly wonderful. Funny, interesting, unexpected, clever, with a good reader. I didn't know this author before, and I am now hooked. I recommend to anybody who's not offended by sexual content and some swearing.

After listening to the book on CD, I went back to the first two "tapes" and finally the story made some sense. Unlike Moore's other books, this one took a while to find its sweet spot. Nonetheless, the CD reader was excellent. Moore's humor took a while to come out of the clouds, but by the end of the story, it was a sunny day!

Excellent! I loved this story. Sacre Bleu differs from Moore’s other works in that it seems more involved, more researched and the plot is more finely woven. Moore’s humor and wit remain with bitingly sarcastic characters, outlandish events and a story interspersed with real historical figures and events. I don’t think anyone could have done a better job. I kept wondering how Moore was going to end the story, while I had suspicions it was not too obvious until the very end which I appreciate in a book, keep the reader guessing, a twist. I would recommend this to anyone who loves tales of the absurd and doesn’t mind some vulgarity.

Absolutely horrible. Can't believe this is the same author who wrote about the Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove. It's like he made up some history of a bunch of famous artists all being friends. I borrowed the book on CD version. Returned it after CD #2. It was a struggle to get that far. The English narrator mispronounces tonnes of French words too. A mess.

This is a difficult story to evaluate based on other of Moore's stories. It's disjointed and not easy to follow. It barely rates as a comedy d art as claimed. 6 of 10 stars
