This is an excellent story - and narrated by a gorgeous voice! - about 13 year old Sophie who goes to stay at her granmother's house for the summer, an old plantation house in the South. Sophie reads, and longs to have adventures like the children in her favourite books, but when she meets a strange creature, her wish is granted, and she is thrown back into the 1860s where she is mistaken for a slave in her family's old house. Sophie slips up several times as she tries to survive in the past, and the story is driven by her and the other strong characters around her. In the ends, it's gripping, well written, very well narrated, and a great story all around.
