This book is quite unique in terms of other dystopians since it is based on our reality today and not some scifi mumbo jumbo. It is also more frightening because it could happen if and when WW3 happens compared to Maze Runner and Hunger Games.

Not impressed. The characters suck, the romance is nothing special or intreguing, and the concept has potential but the delivery is poor. Hated the lead, didnt like Chase, but it wasnt too bad. Tolerable. I dont recommend it but if you want to try it, go ahead. Be prepared.

This was a lousy book. If young girls find this interesting they need to get outside and meet real people who actually think and deal with real issues.
The author had some fascinating and rich settings for her book. The political, social, moral and religious complexities could make for a fascinating story. Instead she abandons the stage she sets and follows the immature and adolescent insecurities of a girl who wouldn't survive a power outage let alone a struggle for survival and flight from an oppressive regime. Ember doesn't act like a 17 year old but more like a 12 year old.
A weak effort for a first time author.

I could not put this book down! Chase is shown as the boy who Ember loved, but who then betrayed her. Though his actions seem cruel, you can't help but fall in love with him later on in the story. Can't believe this is the author's first book and I can't wait for the sequel. If you like this book then you'll really enjoy Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.

Ever since Hunger Games, I have been reading as many dystopian novels that I can get my hands on...and even better if they come as a series. Article 5 is not the best one that I've read but is very good.
