Stick Dog by Tom Watson

Look, not everyone can be a great artist, okay? The narrator of Stick Dog certainly isn’t, and he’s sick of hearing about it. So he’ll make you a deal. You don’t comment on the art, and in exchange you’ll get story about five rectangular canine friends on a quest for the Holy Grail of picnic foods: hamburgers. (more)

My six year old son loved the story and especially the drawings. He is more interested in drawing now JUST because of this book! The funny story can impress anybody-- no age limit!

Stick Dog and his four best dog friends are street dogs. They are homeless and ownerless but they are a happy group and spend their days on various adventures together. Today Stick Dog gets a whiff of a barbeque going on in a distant park so the five dogs decide to go on a mission to see if they can score some hamburgers for lunch. Together they set off through the woods in search of the barbeque. Once they find it, they hatch a plan to try to steal the hamburgers form the unsuspecting family in the park.Review
