This book picks up immediately after the end of "Divergent," and follows Tris as she tries to cope with the aftermath of the events in the first book, and repercussions are felt throughout the entire society on a scale larger than the characters had imagined. I am a little ashamed to admit that I saw the movie first, so I was surprised at how different the plot of the book seemed, compared to what I remember from the movie. The author does a thorough job of exploring Tris's emotional state as this second book unfolds.

Insurgent is the next book in the Divergent Trilogy, and is a follow-up from the events in the previous book. There isn't as much action as the last book, and the story introduces new conflicts and problems that aren't as interesting to read about. The plot is very drawn out and gets boring quickly. There is a larger focus on character relationships, however, and seeing how different situations made the characters interact was interesting enough, and kept me going until the end of the book. Overall, the book was a disappointing sequel, but is necessary to read if you want to finish the series. If character relationships are something that you enjoy, this book would be something that you might take interest in reading.

First time I tried this book the non-action in the middle and the cursory make-out scenes weren't enough to compel me to read past about 1/3. This time, thinking it might be something my newly turned-teenager might want to read, I made myself complete it. Still think the kiss - think- kiss- think - kiss sequence is poor, but I managed, this time, to make it all the way to the end. The book could really use a list of faction members in order to keep track of everyone - who's what and loyal to whom -- enough intrigue to make me pick it up again. But I can't help longing for more depth of fewer characters.

I totally enjoyed Insurgent, in fact, I found it hard to put the book down. The sequel takes some unexpected turn with the plot.

For a long time, Insurgent was my favourite book in the series. Very tense and deep, the book shows the characters more prepared for the dangers the have to face, but not as emotionally damaged as they are in the third book. The characters are shown as an unstoppable army.

I think that Insurgent is a wonderful sequel to Divergent. There is a lot of action and unexpected moves. I would recommend this to people that have read The Hunger Games or The Maze Runner because it has a similar theme.

A strong follow-up to Divergent. While Divergent only turned very dark at the end, Insurgent was dark throughout. Having established in the first book that any character (except Tris) could be killed, the tension was high throughout this book, and the end was excellent.

Insurgent was an awesome book, though I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. I was shocked at the act of betrayal from Caleb. To me in this book it showed that Tris is stronger and she doesn't take bad advice from Tobias any more, like acting small and weak. Also in this book I found that it doesn't show that the factionless are mean or wierd, it shows they can be strong. And like many people I couldn't put this book down.

Insurgent is a amazing book that was spectacular to read. I loved all the suspense, emotion, and sacrifices made in this book. It wasn't as good as the first one, since this one was a bit more 'long' and tedious. :|It still was amazing, and I loved how it all built up, and then ended in a cliff hanger. I can't wait to read the next book! :) How Tris and Four's relationship slowly turned out to be a huge sacrifice, with some issues in between which makes it more exciting. I loved this book, and would recommend to anyone who loves several genres in one book. :)

A hit with both teen and adult readers, Insurgent is the action-packed, emotional adventure that inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, and Octavia Spencer.

As war surges in the factions of dystopian Chicago all around her, Tris attempts to save those she loves–and herself–while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris and Four are still trying to resolve the conflict among the factions. Now the factionless want to be part of the action. Big surprise is that Four's mother is the leader of the factionless and Tris doesn't trust her. This leads to problems between Tris and Four causing Tris to be reckless at times. In the end Tris and Four forgive the past, start to trust again, and tell the other they are in love. There is continued testing on the Divergents with betrayals.

Background info about Divergent: It's all about the Erudite wanting to controll the Dauntless people to attack the Abnegation.
Now in Insurgent, Tris, Tobias and others of the Abnegations went to Amity headcorters to seek shelter. The Erudite found out and everyone had to run again. Then one night out of no where two of Tris's friends were being controlled and jumped off the building threatening that if one divergent person is not in the Erudite headcorters by__ this would happen again.
Basically, it is a fast pace book with people on the edge of their chairs waiting for what is to come in this book.
