I recently read the book: Crazy Rich Asians, by Kevin Kwan. I love this book. Everything about this book is amazing, but the fact that there all RICH makes it ten times better. The money, parties, alcohol, it's all amazingly thought out and written. The characters, the money, the different issues throughout the book, it's divine. I love how planned the family tree is, making it ten times easier to understand the crazy large family. The different problems in every character's life make it feel like there are multiple different stories in one. It also shows their intentions and personality. Rachel and Nick’s relationship is beautifully described, focusing on the fact that he really cares about her. A character I disliked in this book was Nick’s mother Eleanor Young. She went through so much trouble to find out about Rachel's past, which made me dislike her, and the fact that she's trying so hard to ruin Nick and Rachel’s relationship makes me dislike her even more. This book is astoundingly written and the movie is also just as amazing. I’d recommend this book to anyone over the age of thirteen. I rate this book a 5/5.

Crazy Rich Asians is entertaining and light (until the end, when suddenly some more dramatic themes sneak in), and it's hard to look away from all that excess, but the whole backstabbing, elitist, entitled bunch got a little tiring after a while.

I am giving the audiobook of this superficially written book a slightly higher rating than I did the print version because of the good job Lynn Chen did voicing the characters. What I found bizarre is that, despite her otherwise perfect French, she insisted on pronouncing the name of the Quebec airplane manufacturer Bombardier as Bom-bar-deer, when everyone knows it's pronounced Bom-bar-deay.

An entertaining exposition of inherited privilege, generational wealth, ethnic prejudice and conspicuous consumption. I'm just envious because I don’t have a private jet. If I did, I wouldn’t care what American sociologists think. They would forgive me because I would be rich and beautiful.

This book is so much fun. The author has a way of bringing you into the scene with the words.

The book is fun, but the narration is atrocious. I mean REALLY atrocious …. there is no need for the phony accents (some narrators are gifted in this way and it works, but when they are not, it is very jarring and distracting). The other factor in how poor the narration is that the narrator does not appear to be reading ahead (we tend to scan by a millisecond when we read), so her inflection is often off: she will read a sentence as a statement, and then end it with "he asked". Or, in a flat voice will deliver the words, followed by "she screeched". Waiting for the hard copy, LOL.

My coworker recommended this to me and I put the audiobook on hold. Saw the trailer for the movie and thought it looked insanely mediocre so my expectations got deflated. I started listening and only thought "why do I care about any of these rich people problems?" I now hate myself for listening to in straight through on my commutes to work it is hilarious/engaging.

I downloaded this because I wanted to be prepared going into the upcoming movie, but now I will definitely have to finish the series. For romcom fans and anyone who spends their holiday break watching things like "A Christmas Prince."

As far as the audio book, this reader was not good. She tried to do a British accent and failed miserably. Just painfully bad.

As for the book itself, it started ok, then just got annoying. Obviously I know the book is about crazy rich people but it was really over the top annoying. After setting it aside for a while I went back and it got better. Also it took quite a while to remember the characters and figure out which ones were really main. By the end I liked it and will try reading the next in the series. I think it just took too long to establish that there was actually a plot. Once that got going it was fine.
