From Library Staff

After Sierra Shepard turns in a paring knife she accidentally brought to school, she faces expulsion and discovers that not all situations have easy solutions.

When middle school student and rule-follower Sierra Shepard turns in a paring knife after accidentally swapping lunches with her mother, she finds that the school’s zero tolerance policy might be a little too extreme, even for her.

I had really mixed feelings about the message of this book. The character is in 7th grade and I would say that it is definitely for older readers and would be a good discussion book as it's main focus is the gray areas in life. Worth reading and thought provoking, but needs discussion and follow up to make it worth while.
