I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it provided unique history of human food culture that I have not read anywhere else. Although I am doing keto, this book was interesting and beneficial.

Throughly enjoyable book. I appreciate his non cult like view of the paleo diet. This book is far more about a natural sustainable lifestyle than just the food that goes in your mouth.
If you're looking for a interesting well written book on the hunter gather lifestyle then this one's for you.
At times it gets a bit boring especially near the end but a quick skim read suffices.

Not particularly good. Most of the information is re-hashed from other, better books. In the chapters, he detours from the main topic, writing long passages that don't relate to the main topic. If you want better overviews of the Paleo movement I recommend books by Lorian Cordain, Robb Wolf, Mark Sisson (his first book). Cordain gives referenced scientific information on the biochemistry of our modern diet compared to the Paleo diet. If you want a deeper scientific knowledge of the perils of our modern diet, try "Fat Chance" by Robert H. Lustig. It is a schlogh to get through because of the scientific language. But I recommend it. I got through the first 120 pages of The Paleo Manifesto, then glanced through the rest of the book. John Durant is cute and looks like a Hollywood caveman, but that doesn't make him an expert on nutrition. Avoid it.
